Even though gas appliances are very clean and efficient, it’s still important to have it serviced. Many manufacturers even require a yearly service be performed to maintain their warranty, which can save on costly repairs later.
The Simple Process
The technician will usually start by looking over the exterior, checking the glass for chips, cracks, or dirt. Then looking inside the firebox for debris and checking that the ignition system is lighting properly. While inside the firebox they will also check the log set to ensure proper placement and that they are still in good shape and not deteriorating. Lastly they will inspect the gas valve and connections making sure there are no leaks.
Safety is most important when it comes to enjoying a roaring fire in your home and the minor expense of a service call is absolutely worth it!
